Wellbeing Care Series describes the principles and evidenced-based practices of population health management, as it relates to wellbeing care and preventive services. The course will use the latest research and data to instruct the public health challenges that are barriers to wellness. It will include understanding the seven priorities and key areas of focus for clinicians when instructing patients on a healthy lifestyle. Understanding the role of population health management within the practice’s patient population and protocols for preventive and chronic care services is discussed.

The course will include examples of important patient information and clinical data collection steps towards understanding the practice’s patient population.

Case Studies in Chronic Pain (1 CEU)

Case Studies in Chronic Pain will describe the optimal management of a chronic pain patient. The course will use the latest research and data to support the effectiveness of using a biopsychosocial model and plan of care. It will include understanding cognitive behavioral strategies, interventions, and goal planning with the patient using “smart” goal methodology. The course will offer implementation recommendations for the clinician and staff to build a positive support environment for the chronic pain patient.

The Diabetic Patient course will describe a clinical case study of a diabetic patient. The course will use the latest research and data to understand the current management of diabetes, health risk factors associated with diabetes, and progressive stages of the disease. It will include how to assess insulin resistance through proper history taking, examination, and lab testing. The course will offer information about low-glycemic diets, exercise, and other treatment recommendations including pharmaceuticals and lifestyle management.
